Pollak Twins

The identical and German-born Pollak Twins are visionary filmmakers, writers, and directors. Their work is driven by a desire to break open the constructs of the human condition, exploring themes of intimacy, loneliness, and identity. As female twin directors, their perspective is singular—offering a dual gaze on the world that is both deeply personal and universally resonant. Their longing for connection fuels the transformation of emotion into visual narratives, capturing the unspoken weight of memory, desire, and the constant search for self.

Together, the Pollak Twins co-wrote and directed the short films Die Agentin, Lily, Lola, The Icecream People and I Am Romy. Their films have screened at the Independent Film Festival Berlin, Toronto International Film Festival, and the Indie Short Fest at the Los Angeles International Film Festival—establishing them as bold new voices in independent cinema.

Their vision has been recognized beyond the screen, with features in Flaunt Magazine, Sleek Magazine, Screen Daily, and IndieWire, among others. They collaborated with Gucci and Alessandro Michele on the SS23 Twinsburg fashion show at Milan Fashion Week—an homage to identity, duality, and the layered complexity of self-perception.

When they’re not writing or directing, Antonia and Francesca document the world through 35mm film, capturing an ongoing visual dialogue in their series, Through Our Lens.
